Barometric altimeters need to be adjusted to the adjusted barometric reading at the nearest weather station. Go to http://www.weather.gov or http://www.weather.com or weather underground, find your nearest weather station, and find the barometric pressure and enter it.

When a low (storm center) or high (fair weather center) is approaching or departing, this can through off your altimeter readings. 0.01 inch change can read as 11 feet of climbing.
